Collection: The Department Store

Take the No.19 bus to Peter Jones, and shop. Not quite finished? Pop around the corner to get the 137 up to the West End for Dickens & Jones and Fenwick.

This collection is the "top of Kings Road to Regent Street" edit. It brings together the reliable, high-quality labels that formed the backbone of the British department store between 1990 and 2010.

These were the institutions that prioritised cut and longevity over the whims of the fashion cycle. There were labels that felt like they'd always be there—JFW, Planet, Episode—and those that still are, like Fenn Wright Manson and LK Bennett. Then there were the ones that came and went: Jesire, Caractère, and Tara Jarmon.

It was a landscape where you could stumble across a one-off piece from an emerging name like Almost Famous or Alice San Diego, or spend an hour at the jewellery counters finding the perfect accessory from a dozen different brands in a single aisle.

We have curated this floor to save you the gamble of the modern resale market. No plastic, no silk, just the well-made essentials and one-off pieces that were built to last for real life.
